from Notes from the Daydreaming

We bow mornings like bottle caps. This is the dream
of the carnivals we didn’t miss. The elephants and the halleluiahs
Brian, you came in late and left the highway on
I found it this morning: red-eyed and idle. Open all the windows
and let it run. This is the dream of wishing
for all the wishes. I wish for a Heaven half-built
Half deity and half backyard. The border of heaven
is a picket fence. Don’t worry. Almost anyone can leap
a picket fence.
